Yosemite Views

Last Light over the Mountains in Yosemite

It was raining the day I returned to my house a week and a half ago. Which was not the welcome home one would hope for after spending the last few days in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, with 60 degree weather and not a cloud in the sky. With it being mid February, Yosemite had a chance of being pretty cold & snowy; so, the weather was the cherry on top of this incredible trip.

I woke up at 4 am on Thursday the 15th to catch an early flight out of DC, landed in Chicago, to catch another flight to San Jose. It took about 4 hours by car to get to Yosemite from the airport. Arriving at The Redwoods around 7:30 pm pacific time made it a 17 hour trip total.

I made the trip for the Adventurers Workshop put on by the elopement photography gurus, The Hearne's  & Maddie Mae. We headed into Yosemite Valley Friday afternoon, first stopping at Tunnel View, that truly took my breath away. All the traveling was so worth the wait for this killer view of El Capitan, Half Dome, & Bridalveil Fall. The rest of the evening was spent exploring the valley with two awesome couples, who I'll be sharing more of in my next few blog posts in this Yosemite series.

Yosemite was definitely one of my favorite places I've ever experienced. Since returning home, I have been yearning to explore new places & go on even more adventures. There is a notebook next to me filled with destinations & plans for journeys I'd like to take with my camera. I absolutely have to return someday to this inspiring place, if not very soon. Who can I convince to elope in Yosemite?
